Got Carbon? Joe Perez (City of Phoenix Bicycle Coordinator) called me the other day to let us know that the Phoenix Transportation Department is looking for a high-tech roadie who is willing to help them evaluate their traffic signal in-pavement detection system for bicyclists. Ideally, they are looking for someone with a carbon frame and carbon rim bike (i.e. minimal amount of metal). The fallback would be a carbon frame with metal rims. They need this community-spirited individual to contact Joe to schedule a short visit downtown to test out the detection system. Weekdays (e.g. over a lunch break) would be best. If nobody steps up, I get to take my 2000 Trek 5200 downtown to do the test. Surely, somebody can provide a more high-tech and more totally carbon bike than that… Thanks, Bob Beane p.s.
