Got a bit more than I bargained for on a badger watch tonight. Id prepared for a long stakeout (which involved packing six squares of green and blacks in my cardi pocket). Hid in the undergrowth pretending I was a cross between Bear grylls and Kate Humble. After 20 mins (by which time the chocolate was gone), crashing twigs and thundering paws-two badgers galloped up from behind me and one smacked into my outstretched knee. I swore, it made a grumpy badger noise and disappeared, looking a bit dazed. Blimey. I dont know which of us was more surprised.
