Got criticized at Walmart the other day when Steel used his own money to buy the new Power Ranger gun. The Mom behind me felt it very irresponsible, and referred to the school shooting in Seattle as she scolded my son for pointing it in her sons direction, keep in mind it was still in the box. The Mom and believer in the right to bare arms person in me wanted to set her straight and let her know exactly where I stood. But I surprised myself, I shut my mouth and nodded while I listened, I realized she obviously lives in a world I dont live in, and dont want to, and thanked her for her opinion. As we walked out I laughed as I realized that my husband had rubbed off on me. Over the years I have watched Shain thank his haters for hating him, sometimes it is completely shocking what people will say to him, and then he extends his hand and thanks them as he walks away saying nothing more. He amazes me because he never lets them get the best of him, ever. It is a skill I am always impressed with and one I hope my son learns. Haters gonna hate, might as well smile while they hate and walk away smiling on a higher road. Lesson learned, It really does feel better.
