Got in last night. Heres another update but before I say - TopicsExpress

Got in last night. Heres another update but before I say something, does anyone feel like picketing Philippine embassies or consulates? :) So the president of the Republic of the Philippines was giving a speech and hand outs at the same place I was at. He was blaming everyone as usual except himself and his interior secretary, Mar Roxas, who he has some weird bromance with. I was able to give some donations to the Red Cross in terms of medical supplies but Filipino-Americans arriving from the US and who have donations from the US are being harassed to surrender their donations to the Dept. of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) so they can be repackaged with the seal of the DSWD. If they dont, then they are taxed. I wasnt personally harassed but then I do have a certain rank. Samar is slowly getting off its feet but theres a lot of dead. Leyte is in a worst condition than Samar and I blame it largely on the politicking of the President Aquino, Secretary of the Interior Mar Roxas, and Mayor Alfred Romuldez (nephew of the Imelda). Im going to make some rounds this week to doctor friends for medical donations again and either go again or send someone else. I really am wondering if people internationally should start a protest against the Philippine government to speed up and depoliticize the relief efforts or to just place that part of the Philippines under some UN disaster team. The Pope said that it would be better if certain people like those who steal from the people would be tied with a mill stone and drowned. I can now give the pope a list of politicians from the Philippines that should be tied with a mill stone. The food and water situation though is slowly getting better for Tacloban. The outsider towns are still coping with infrequent deliveries. The Vice President of the Philippines, Binay, tried to take some relief goods from the UN and US soldiers stopped him. I heard stories about how people were looting for food in the earlier days because they had children to feed and the governments relief efforts were not consistent. Now things are improving thanks to the international relief efforts but the Filipino politicians are hampering delivery and donations. One thing that was interesting and moving was Malaysian and Israeli soldiers working together to deliver water. Malaysia, being Muslim, does not recognize the Zionist entity known as Israel. But in a predominantly Roman Catholic country, Muslims and Jews were working together. Theres so much Ill share but I need to get going. Ill share stories more later.
