Got in on a last minute visit with the rehabilitation/prosthetics professor at froedtert. Seems like a great guy. He likes my leg and ankle strength and also likes the amount of sensation of feel i have through the mid base of my foot. He said 6-8 weeks healing for the half of foot (transmetatarsel) amputation and 4-8 weeks healing for lower leg (trans-tibial) amputation. He said whatever i end up with though, its my job to challenge him and his staff so they can get me back to doing everything i physically want to do. I hope he knows who he just met!! Especially when he told me he had a patient with the half foot amputation who is an animal again and does triathalons with a certain prosthesis!! Back to see the surgeon now to see what he is thinking. Its good to hear two docs have some excitement about what they can do for me and get me back to the stranger they met called Greg.
