Got into Chiang Mai around 11:00 pm, 27 hours after leaving Kathmandu. Pat picked me up at the airport and dropped me off at the hotel. What a blessing! This morning I went out to get shampoo and other sundries that I did not pack from Kathmandu. Involved learning the taxi system here (easy), and learning a new part of town. Back to the hotel, showered, shaved, clean(!) clothing, and feeling human again! Unpacked, checked, and everything I started with in Kathmandu made it unscathed to Thailand. Pat came by, and took me to the top of a hill where a large temple and even larger tourist trap lay waiting for me, then back to his apartment for a bit, then into Chinatown for some awesome food, and a walk through the night market. Ate my first (not last!) rose apple, drank chrysanthemum tea, and generally had a good time. Back around 8:00, as jet lag is sneaking up on me, and I have a 9:00 am golf engagement tomorrow! Altogether, an excellent day!
