Got some an unusual weekend adventures.... yesterday, during a family meeting about a patient of one of the prominent families here in Iloilo, I was the youngest among the consultants involved in the case... and my specialty was in question... doctor, what you are saying is contradicting with what our doctor in Manila told us....etc...etc..etc... I was in a hot seat!!! I know being young-looking was unfavorable to my credibility... I look straight to the eyes of the patients daughter and maintain grace under fire with radiating confidence and politeness, I simply replied... Maam, with due respect to Dr. (in Manila) I stand with what I said based on what I know and what I have read and learned... I did my best to explain clearly my point with firmness...Definitely, I know my 3- year fellowship training in UP-PGH did not fail me... I landed on the winning side! ;-) Every Sunday, I attend Sunday mass at Gaisano City activity center... while in queue to received communion, someone tap my shoulder, a batch mate in high school...I gave her a warm smile...right after the mass has ended, of course we engaged in a short conversations, and she seemed to get a shocked of her life that I am not married yet which made me wonder really shocking, huh?!?... and suddenly she asked, ano course mo? I said, B.S. Biology! and she then added, sayang wala ka nag doctor!... It made me smile so wide... and I just finally whispered to her when I bid goodbye that she can visit my clinic at Saint Paul Hospital...
