Got the chance to visit the Swaminarayan Hindu Temple in Lilburn - TopicsExpress

Got the chance to visit the Swaminarayan Hindu Temple in Lilburn today with Dr. Lindquists religion class. Such a cool experience. I will say that one of the great things about Christianity, and particularly Protestant Christianity, is that the building doesnt matter much, its just four walls that allow us a place to preach, pray, and sing. And I believe that its a positive thing, because it allows us to focus on God and not get caught up in our surroundings, and it also allows us to plant churches literally anywhere, like in old shopping malls. But there is something to be said for a place like this, that is clearly sacred just from looking at it. There is a sense of reverence which is immediately apparent when you set foot on the grounds. And its people act like it, too. Youre not even allowed to take photos inside. Every architectural detail reflects the principles of their faith. Now I understand why cathedrals were built. Its a tangible, physical act of worship, built for the purpose of worship, holiness within holiness. Anyway, Im rambling. Cool trip today. Got to eat some top-notch Indian food, too. :)
