Got the front yard cut...that potato plant is the most amazing thing I have ever planted! Its gotta be the earth food!!! Ima put some around ALL my plants before I either mulch or straw for the winter...it and my front yard elephant ears bed have just outdone themselves! Guess Mamas green thumb was in the mantle passing as well, because Ive never been able to grow plants before! Loving you, Mama, miss you soooo bad! Would give anything for you to be here with me!!!! :( Only my loss! Some say it will get better with time--but Daddys been gone 7 years, Mamas been gone almost 4. No, its no better! The void is still as void as it was the day they left! But the precious memories are my daily sustainer. And my job is a very vital part of time and locations to allow those memories to surface! As I ride down country roads through towns that Daddy worked on his routes buying copper, aluminum, radiators, batteries, and pecans (upcoming in a couple months), I can see him in his big truck, cigar in the corner of his mouth, part of the time not even lit, just chewin on it, hat or cap cocked to the side...talking. I remember as a child riding with him, and he had a helper, an older black man they called Dummy, because he couldnt talk. He could hear, thankfully, and Daddy would talk to him just like he would anyone else. Occasionally, Dummy would try to answer with different sounds. I wasnt afraid of him, more intrigued by his work ethics. He was a hard working man, like my Daddy!!! And Mamas kitchen was my favorite place...there and the yard, were the evidences of just how much she was blessed to work with her hands! I can smell the food she would be cooking daily, 3 meals a day, mind you, then off to the yard shed go, digging, planting, watering...yes, these are wonderful memories that I treasure more and more the older I get! Thank you, Lord, for your providence!!!
