Got to share this nugget. So, there we were coming into land on the beautiful island of Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, aircraft full of tourists and returning locals. Air New Zealand let you use the in-flight entertainment right up to leaving the plane. Shirley was engrossed listening to, and watching, the Rolling Stones live in Hyde Park, full blast on the headphones. As we were coming into land I tapped her on the shoulder and pointed out the window at the lovely palm-fringed white beaches below. She turned to me and said, VERY loudly. ™NOT AS PRETTY AS THE MALDIVES. Everyone but Shirl could have heard a pin drop. Bless her.
