Gotta love Edinburgh! What a wonderful city and what a great time - TopicsExpress

Gotta love Edinburgh! What a wonderful city and what a great time we have had exploring today. The people have been incredibly hospitable and gracious making our time here even more meaningful. Todays highlights included a city tour of both the old and new city. The levels up and down are truly amazing. We made a stop at St. Giles Cathedral (Patron Saint of Scotland) and saw where John Knox did most of his preaching (and where Jenny Geddes threw her stool at his head!!) The Thistle Chapel was exquisite, and we were all enthralled with the bagpipe playing Angel! We made a stop at Holy Rood Palace, but only to the gates. The Queen herself was in residence for the last 5 days, but alas she left before we arrived. Then it was on to Edinburgh Castle with amazing views, the crown jewels of Scotland, and such. A most impressive fortress built high on the rocks. Our last stop was at the Scottish Whisky experience which included a tasting. (Note that in Scotland, whisky does not have an e.) I still am not a whiskey fan, but it was great fun to learn how it is made and try some out. The whiskey barrel ride was really fun! The afternoon was free for shopping, museums and tea. Dan and I enjoyed cream tea at a little place with a great view of the city. Tonight, we sang a concert at Fairmilehead church (Church of Scotland = Presbyterian) and are looking forward to worshipping with them tomorrow. Enjoy the pics!
