Gotta say that I love this sentence...at my newly blossoming maturing age, just tellin it like it is: Before going forward, we offer a caveat: although we refer to the the NGSS and Learning Progressions in K-12 settings, this study is not a ‘how-to’ for implementing them. In fact we eschew notions of implementation or ‘rolling out’ any curricular reform or standards for that language belies a pernicious belief that changes in education just suddenly occur from dictum. Rather, this piece is a how-to-think-about co-constructing, inventing and improvising innovative models for how the Learning Progressions and Cross-Cutting Concepts can be organically, and culturally-driven by teachers and students within their sphere of most influence: the classroom, school and immediate school community.
