Gotta tell you this story: My step mother in law and her friend - TopicsExpress

Gotta tell you this story: My step mother in law and her friend are here visiting. They found that new ladder in front of the Sheraton so they have been swimming there every morning. On Tuesday, they were both in the water near the rocks. A group of IronMen swimmers were nearby and the ladies were having a nice time looking at the athletes..and they were not paying attention to the waves....a swell came in and they got scared, so my mother in law makes a bee line for the ladder..(she is 60 and in pretty good shape)..the wave pulled her off the ladder and sent her onto the rocks. Her friend came to help her and then both got hit by another wave and were sent up onto the rocks together, raking their hands and legs. They are both ok now, but both are bruised, with scrapes and cuts on their elbows and thighs. I told them not to turn their back on the ocean...but since they were in the water, they probably did not think about it..if you ever find yourself in a place where the waves are too high, DO NOT go near the rocks/reef/beach..usually the high waves only last for a few minutes and THEN you can attempt to get out. They panicked and should have stayed in the water and swam into the surge until it passed. I hope this helps anyone avoid the same fate. (we doused them with hydrogen peroxide, too..staph is prevalent in humid environments.)
