Gov. Almakura host Migili Nation, Assures More Development. His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Migili nation for their loyalty and support ,assuring them of administrations support toward needed developmental projects. Gov. Almakura made this known when he received a courtesy visit for the Migili leaders at Government house Lafia, where he told the high powered delegation lead by HRH the Zee Migili that since his childhood days he had come to know the Migili people to be peace loving, hardworking, and always in the forefront to develop anywhere they find themselves, which has made them well known within and outside the state. He spoke on the things the government would do for them based on what they had presented to him. He made it known that the government would still implement all the articles in the white paper, firmly stating there was no going back. He said during the drawing up of the white paper they ensured that ways and means to quickly intervene with assistance to the people who were affected , which included providing financial support to all the people that had been subjected to afflictions based on the report . Further stating that their visit has fast tracked the action of government and that before the end of the month all those that were to receive financial assistance would receive so from government. He also stated that he understood their plight as before 2011 , where they were the most marginalized tribe, due to their population, yet looking at the huge contribution they had given the state he commending them on their desire to add value to themselves and the whole state. He spoke on the administration’s considerations towards turning one of the health care centres in their area into general hospital very soon. He also said having noticed no asphalt road in the area, the administration would construct the road between Agaregu – Gidan Ausa- Doma, stating that the contractor had already been asked to move to site. Failure to meet up with the targeted time will force the Government to bring in a new contractor. The Governor commended the way the Migili people encourage their children to go to school. However, noticing that there was no single public boarding school there for them, he said the Government would sit with some stake holders to select any secondary school they wanted government to upgrade to a full boarding school to create a rallying point for all Migili children which would be equipped with all necessary learning tools and boarding needs. He said Obi was one of the LGAs to be part of the rural electrification programme in 40 days and at least one of the points must come from the Migili nation. On the issue of the police station he said that the contract had already been awarded and would be completed in two months. Lastly, he made it known that the administration would look toward upgrading some of the Chiefs and District Heads, saying he was aware of the hard work and efforts they had done towards peace and development. He asked them to commend all their political appointees who had been working tirelessly, singling out the Commissioner of Lands, Mr. Sonny Agassi for his effort at developing a land administration system that was not just a national model but was bringing in much revenue to the state.
