Governance refers to all processes of governing, whether - TopicsExpress

Governance refers to all processes of governing, whether undertaken by a government, market or network, whether over a family, tribe, formal or informal organization or territory and whether through laws, norms, power or language. It relates to processes and decisions that seek to define actions, grant power and verify performance. In general terms, governance occurs in three broad ways.... (1)Through networks involving public-private partnerships (PPP) or with the collaboration of community organisations; (2)Through the use of market mechanisms whereby market principles of competition serve to allocate resources while operating under government regulation; (3)Through top-down methods that primarily involve governments and the state bureaucracy. To distinguish the term governance from government: governance is the concrete activity that reproduces a formal or informal organization. If the organization is a formal one, governance is primarily about what the relevant governing body does. If the organization is an informal one, such as a market, governance is primarily about the rules and norms that guide the relevant activity. Whether the organization is a geopolitical entity (nation-state), a corporate entity (business entity), a socio-political entity or an informal one, its governance is the way the rules and actions are produced, sustained, and regulated. In Ekiti State,we have witness series of government and their legacies of governance. Each had come with series of policies...good and bad. Good governance is an indeterminate term used in international development literature to describe how public institutions conduct public affairs and manage public resources. Governance is the process of decision-making and the process by which decisions are implemented (or not implemented). Good governance has 8 major characteristics. It is participatory, consensus oriented, accountable, transparent, responsive, effective and efficient, equitable and inclusive and follows the rule of law. It assures that corruption is minimized, the views of minorities are taken into account and that the voices of the most vulnerable in society are heard in decision-making. It is also responsive to the PRESENT and FUTURE needs of society. In my dear states 18 years of existence, we have witness series of governance with different views, policies and characters. From my own personal views and observation as an ardent follower, citizen, student, worker(public service) and political actor (voter), the best set of near good governance in Ekiti State was between 2003 - 2010. Before 2003,governance in Ekiti was just for merry making with no proper future plan nor response to present needs. With the ousted of Engineer Segun Oni through judicial mathematical calculation on October 15th,2010 Ekiti returns to the era of deceit, propaganda, intimidation, draconian {cruel} policies, indebtedness, serial political killings, below average performance, insensitivity to the plight of the masses etc With the imminent return of Ayodele Fayose to the saddle of Ekiti State government.... Expectations are high the debt profile of the state is at the highest level, unemployed graduates are in thousands, those in the government service are been owned series of arrears, salaries, cooperative deductions, leave bonuses etc, communities needs and so on and so forth. He has been there once,he has been tested,he is not new to the terrain,he has the experience. God bless Ayodele Peter Fayose God bless Ekiti State God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria
