The Local Government & Community Affairs Liaison is responsible for the development, coordination, and execution of the company’s local community relations strategy. This position will serve as the company’s liaison with a variety of key stakeholders and will coordinate activities related to local media, community and government relations. • Monitor and gain a full understanding of local/regional social, public, political and business issues as they relate to the business; provide regular updates and analysis which identify current or emerging concerns and challenges, as well as opportunities to protect and promote the company’s reputation and license to operate. • Develop and drive results-based local initiatives and special events related to philanthropic, government affairs, and community relations. • Build relationships with key stakeholders including local officials, news media, community leaders, non-profit organisations, etc. • In coordination with Government Affairs, develop company positions on proposed government initiatives, and other local public policy issues that affect operations. • Provide public affairs support for the manager, and assist with the preparation of a variety of communications materials including news releases, media responses, speeches/presentations, brochures and other materials. • Serve as the company’s local media relations point of contact. • Build and maintain relationships internally to ensure that coordination, communication and delivery of business results are achieved. • Through demonstration of the company’s core values, ensure strong relationships with key stakeholders, government officials, regulatory agencies and members of the public. Degree Required: BA Major: Communications, journalism, political science or similar fields of study Years Experience: 5+ years in roles of similar scope to this position Skills: • Strong community relations skills required. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. • Excellent organisation and planning skills required. • Strong public and government relations skills preferred Thank you.
