Government Shutdown MESSAGE SENT ON BEHALF OF MICHAEL J. DOWLING, Deputy Director DeCA ALL Reference: DepSecDef Memo, September 26, 2013, Subj: Potential Government Shutdown (attached) As of today, Congress is still working on a short-term spending bill to avoid a government shutdown that could begin 12:00 a.m. October 1, 2013 EST. Should there be no agreement, DeCA may be subject to a government shutdown. The outcome is unknown at this time. The Department of Defense has informed DeCA that commissaries overseas will remain operational in the event of a shutdown. As more information becomes available we will keep you updated. As we learn more specific information about a potential government shutdown that affects our workforce, we will promptly share it with you.
