Government and UNFC to Meet Again this Month …………………………………………………………………………………… Yangon, June 12 An authority from the Myanmar Peace Center reports that the Union Peace Working Committee, which is currently planning a political discussion involving all armed ethnic groups, will hold a discussion with the United Nationalities Federal Council (UNFC) this month. He further states that the discussion will be held in the Chiang Mai City, Thailand and that the said committee will meet with the Technical Team from UNFC to discuss terms for peace. Although the conference between the government and UNFC was scheduled in the first week of this month, it was postponed due to the seminars that the government held with the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNNP) and the Karen National Union (KNU), clarifies Dr. Min Zaw Oo, Director of Ceasefire Negotiation and Implementation from the Myanmar Peace Centre. The associates of the inform that the assembly of the peace consultation, which include all ethnic armed groups, will be discussed during the meeting with UNFC. The associates of the Union Peace Working Committee say that the committee will discuss programs for the peace discussion involving all armed ethnic minorities, in the meeting with UNFC. The United Nationalities Federal Council (UNFC) was founded by 11 armed ethnic groups in February, 2011.
