Government forces Tuesday claimed they arrested a former militant who had again joined a militant group six months in north Kashmir’s Bandpur town. Police sources said army trooper from 14 RR along with a police arrested a former militant Ghulam Muhammad Shiekh resident of Ashtang in the district during a road checking. Police said that one pistol, two grenades and a magazine was recovered from his possession. A police official said Shiekh was an ex-militant who had surrendered and was now reportedly active in militancy related activities. SRINAGAR:- A video-journalist working for ANI was injured when a police vehicle hit him near Batmaloo area of the city where police and paramilitaries resorted to lathicharge to prevent a Muharram procession. Witnesses said a large number of mourners had assembled at Batmaloo. However, when they tried to move towards Jehangir Chowk, police swung into action and resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse them. A police gypsy hit Hilal Ahmed Bhat who has been admitted to Bone and Joint hospital at Barzulla where he was operated upon. Mr Bhat and other mediapersons had gone there to cover the procession. Srinagar, November 13: Two laborers working in a factory in Industrial Estate Lassipora, Pulwama were found dead while other two are being treated in the hospital. Accusing a particular national news channel over what he termed indulging ‘in vicious propaganda’, Geelani said that one of the Indian news channel has initiated ‘tirade’ of propaganda’ against the Kashmir and its leaders. Geelani further stated in his address that the pro-freedom leadership in Kashmir will not allow any division of Jammu and Kashmir on regional or communal basis, the senior separatist said that there are certain vested interests, who want to divide the state ethnically, or on the basis of language. “But we will always remain united for the just cause.” Geelani said that the resolution of Kashmir dispute is only possible when the people of the region are given their right to determine their future. Urging people to observe complete boycott for the forth coming polls, Geelani said accused that all mainstream parties are the enemies of the Kashmir cause and that their hands must not be strengthened further. “NC, PDP, Congress or any other pro-India party plays vital role in suppressing Kashmir’s dissent and people must remain away from polls so that the world could know that people of Kashmir do not support the oppressors.” Geelani while appealing youth to study Urdu and the literature associated with the subject said that the languages like Persian and Arabic are being eroded from Kashmir under planned strategy. “Our culture and tradition is being eroded under planned manner and conspiracies are being hatched to eradicate vital languages like Urdu, Arabic and Persian from the text books.” Geelani further appealed people not admit their wards in the ‘good will’ schools run the army here. Information and broadcasting ministry government of India has issued an order number 105/2013 IIS, dated November 13, 2013 in this regard.
