Government is introducing a system at the ports to make it easier for Ghanaians resident abroad to clear their imported goods well in advance, President Mahama has announced. Under the new system, it would be possible for people to submit documentations on their cargo before it’s arrive in the country for pre-processing and clearance in good time. President Mahama disclosed this when he interacted with Ghanaian community in Brussels, Belgium. The introduction of the new system of clearing at the ports forms part of measures to decongest the ports. It’s also feeds into government’s quest to make the country’s ports the preferred destination of vessels owing to keen competition from other ports in the West African sub-region.
