Government of the Maldives requires every sector to pro-actively seek measures that curb these poverty trends. The tourism sector is, and has been for a long-time, regarded as the “cash-cow” of the Maldivian economy and is expected to maintain its position as largest contributor to GDP and foreign exchange earnings. As a service industry, the human resource situation forms a pivotal element in ensuring a meaningful contribution to the welfare and wellbeing of the Maldivian nation.
