Governor Aliyu has made Niger Civil Service Better and Motivated -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Niger state government has debunked claims that it has not conducted promotion of civil servants or paid leave grants in the past 7 years insisting its cheap and callous propaganda by the Niger state All Progressive Congress (APC). Responding to the allegation, the Chief Press Secretary to the Niger state governor Mr. Israel A. Ebije said the Niger state opposition has once again showed how shallow its assessment on governance and government policies are. “For the avoidance of doubts and to correct the jaundice perception of the Niger APC, issues of promotion, payments of salaries, leave grants have never been a problem since the Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu came on board in 2007. It is therefore curious for the opposition to state otherwise.” Ebije added that the issue of promotion, payments of leave grant, are included in the consolidated service scheme adding that no single civil servant due for any has missed it. He therefore insisted that the opposition is out to sell falsehood in its desperate attempt to be politically relevant. On the allegation that salaries, servicing of loan are paid with SURE-P funds, the governor’s spokesman said its shame on the Niger APC to raise puerile issues that have no bases and just figment of the imagination of cantankerous elements in the opposition to smear the good work of the Chief Servant. “It is therefore a matter of concern as to what objective the state opposition intends to achieve by alleging that a portion of civil servant salaries are paid with SURE-P funds. Before the advent of the SURE-P funds, Niger state pays salaries before 25th of every month and records shows it’s one of the states that implemented minimum wage.” The governor’s spokesman therefore called on the opposition to be focused, constructive and empirical adding that their drivel on issues is further diminishing their already depleted value in the estimation of right thinking electorates.
