Governor B L Joshi appointment questioned I with RTI activist Devendra Dixit have raised serious questions on the appointment of UP Goverrnor B L Joshi. In the letter to President, Prime Minister and the Home Minister of India, we have said that the RTI reply sent by the Ministry of Home Affairs says that it does not have any records of the posts held by Sri Joshi before being appointed as Governor of UP nor does it have any records of the moveable and immoveable properties held by him. The same reply has been given by the office of the UP Governor. We have said that when there was no record available about basic details of Sri Joshi, then how his name was suggested by the Home Ministry, so as to be recommended by the Prime Minister and finally appointed by the President of India. We have said that the RTI response puts a question-mark on the entire appointment process of Sri Joshi and possibly of other Governors being appointed by the Union Government. Hence we have asked for immediate enquiry into the appointment process of Sri Joshi including his antecedents and to take appropriate action, if irregularities are found in it. We have also asked for a review of all the appointments made in the last ten years in the light of the RTI response.
