Governor Martinez Announces Senior Campaign Staff Albuquerque, NM – Governor Susana Martinez today announced her senior campaign staff. The staff hires include Melissa Sousa as campaign manager, Jessica Perez as fundraising director, Edith Jorge as political director and Chris Sanchez as communications director. “The past three years have been focused on moving New Mexico forward, including leveling the playing field for small businesses to create a more diverse economy that is less reliant on federal spending, reforming education to improve student performance in the classroom, and restoring order to our fiscal house after years of mismanagement. While we’ve made progress, there is still a lot of work to do,” Governor Susana Martinez said. “I am confident that my campaign team will help organize support around our record of accomplishment as well my vision for even greater reforms.” Sousa is a veteran political professional who has worked for campaigns on all levels, including local, statewide and national. Most recently, she was the campaign manager for Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry’s historic victory in 2013. As campaign manager, Sousa will oversee daily campaign operations. Perez has worked in New Mexico politics for more than a decade. As fundraising director, Perez will ensure the campaign has the resources to deliver the Governor’s message to the voters. Jorge most recently worked on Governor Chris Christie’s re-election campaign. As political director, Jorge will be in charge of building a strong grassroots operation ensuring New Mexicans register their vote in favor of continuing to move the state forward. Sanchez has overseen the communications department on several campaigns in New Mexico. As communications director, he will serve as the primary campaign spokesman and articulate the Governor’s vision for New Mexico to voters across the state.
