Governor reviews Yatra arrangements at Sheshnag, Chandanwari, Nunwan Camps Stresses for perfect coordination among all concerned agencies SRINAGAR, – To review the arrangements put in place for Shri Amarnathji Yatra commencing on 28th June, Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, today visited Sheshnag, Chandanwari and Nunwan Camps on the Pahalgam route. The Governor, accompanied by Mr. Navin K. Choudhary, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, inspected the arrangements at the Sheshnag and Chandanwari Camps and held meetings with the concerned officers at both these Camps. Later, he inspected the arrangements at the Nunwan Base Camp and held a high level review meeting here. Among those present in the review meeting at the Nunwan Base Camp included Mr. Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor and CEO, SASB; Mr. Vijay Kumar, DIG Anantnag; Mr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag; Mr. Ramesh Kumar Jalla, SSP, Anantnag; Mr. Nissar Wani, CEO, Pahalgam Development Authority; Mr. R. K. Pandita, GM (Works), SASB; senior officers of the Police and Security Forces and concerned District and Divisional officers of PDD, PHE, CAPD, PWD (R&B), Health, Forests and Environment, Labour, Animal Husbandry and the other concerned Departments. Expressing his satisfaction over the to-date status of positioning of the required arrangements on ground, the Governor asked each of the concerned Government Departments and all other agencies to complete the entire remaining work before 26th June 2013 so that all the arrangements and logistics are positioned well in time before the commencement of the Yatra. He stressed that if required, additional manpower be pressed into service to complete all tasks immediately. The Governor directed that all the Medical Centres at the Base Camps and enroute must be made functional immediately. He said that ration and all other essential commodities be stocked at all the Camps expeditiously. The Governor emphasized the need for greater coordination among all the concerned departments and agencies for the smooth conduct of the Yatra and ensuring that the Yatris are provided best possible facilities. He directed all officers to ensure that every pilgrim is treated with courtesy and provided the required guidance and assistance for completing his Yatra without facing any inconvenience. He reiterated that no Yatri without valid Registration should be allowed to cross the Access Control Gates. The Governor stressed on the Camp Directors and Additional Camp Directors to maintain security, cleanliness and effective sanitation within their Camp areas and asked them to maintain round the clock contact with the Shrine Board Control Room and with the other Camps to ensure that any arising problem is resolved without any delay whatsoever. While reviewing track status, the Governor asked the CEO, Pahalgam Development Authority, to particularly focus on the difficult stretches on the Chandanwari-Sheshnag-Panjtarni-Sangam-Holy Cave axis and gave directions regarding the positioning of Mountain Rescue Teams to help the Yatris. The Governor had an extensive inspection of Sheshnag and Nunwan Base Camps and reviewed the to-date status of all the arrangements and issued on the spot instructions for bringing further improvements in the facilities wherever required. During his inspection of the Nunwan Base Camp, the Governor particularly reviewed the medicare arrangements, water and power supply, paths, toilets and baths, Sewage Treatment Plant, sanitation and Langar facilities. He asked the Langarwallas to ensure cleanliness and hygienic conditions in and around their Langars. Other arrangements which were reviewed included provision of facilities at the Mir Bazar and Walnut Factory Transit Camps, status of Khanabal-Pahalgam and Pahalgam-Chandanwari roads, transport and traffic arrangements, Public Address System, Fire and Emergency Services, telecommunication, security, weather forecasting, etc. Mr. Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor and CEO of the Shrine Board, said that today’s visit of the Governor was to review the arrangements on the ground well before the commencement of the Yatra. He said that all the concerned Government Departments and other agencies have worked hard and are in the process of completing their arrangements, adding that whatever remains to be done would be completed in the next 2-3 days, well before the commencement of the Yatra.
