Govt. College at Falaknuma lacks furniture, students study on floor Hyderabad, March 05: In the age of development if any school does not have furniture, chairs for teachers, drinking water, playground and toilets it looks quite incongruous. If you find any such school or college which lack all such basic facilities it would no doubt be either Urdu medium school or college or English medium college located in minority area. Govt. Junior College for Girls Falaknuma is one such college in which 520 girls are studying. Located at the historical place, the college building is quite good. But due to lack of furniture girls are forced to sit on floor to study. One of the girl students angrily remarked we feel embarrassed when some of our friends sit on benches while others have to sit on floor. It must be noted that girls from Chandrayangutta, Barkas, Babanagar, Chauwni, Jahanuma, Engine Bowli and surrounding areas study in the college and the pass percentage is 70%. Surprisingly at least 15 staff members work on contract basis. College principal Fareesa Asma said that college performance is outstanding and she strives to improve it further. She believes that there is no dearth of potential in our girls all they require is education in good environment. It must be recalled that on 9th July 2012 state government had announced to spend Rs. 2400 crore for providing infrastructure to schools and over 9800 class rooms will be constructed. But this announcement failed to bring any change in this college. Siasat news
