Govt determined to develop youths Mansa, March 12, 2014, ZANIS --------------- Government has called on stakeholders in Luapula Province to take stock of their commitment towards the social economic development of the youths. Luapula Province Minister Brigadier General Benson Kapaya says there is need for stakeholders to prioritize their projects so that they address challenges such as unemployment that youths are faced with in the province. The Provincial Minister encouraged all stakeholders involved in youth development to consider mainstreaming the problems faced by the youths in their programs in order to promote sustainable growth of individual youths. ZANIS reports that General Kapaya said this today in a speech read for him by Luapula Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Joyce Nsamba at the commemoration of this years Youth day at Kaole grounds in Mansa. Gen Kapaya said government was committed to ensuring that youths are developed as witnessed by the many interventions that it has put up for the benefit of the youths. He pointed out that the Youth Development Fund was one measure that that the government is trying to develop the youths through enterprise development for wealth and employment creation. He said the Patriotic Government wants to ensure that youths are developed and has prioritized agriculture through the promotion of diversification of crops such as cassava and rice. Gen Kapaya has since urged the youths to take advantage of the vast land the country has and venture into agriculture and develope themselves. Earlier, Mansa District Administrative Officer Evans Sikabbuba called on the youths to desist from vices that will put their lives in danger. Mr Sikabbuba called on youths to behave in a responsible manner and engage themselves in activities that will promote sustainable development. And a youth representative Jeromy Musonda thanked government for coming up with a policy of youth mainstreaming.
