Govt to award more jobs to local contractors President Mahama hinted of plans by the government to award more road construction jobs to local contractors, as part of efforts to promote local content in the construction industry. He cautioned however that only contractors who exhibit seriousness in the execution of road projects would be given more work. President Mahama said this when he inspected work on the emergency asphaltic overlay of selected roads in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis. The areas include West Tanokrom, Lagos Town, Sekondi High Street, Kansawurodo, Effia Kwesimintsim and Essikado-Ketan. The project, being executed by JUSTMOH Construction, a Ghanaian firm, is in 3 phases and will cost a total of GH¢65.3 million. Phase 1 covers a 20-km stretch, while the last 2 phases consists of 50km. So far 50% of the work has been done on the project which is expected to be completed in 8 months.
