Govt to showcase virgin tourism of Bandipora: Mir SRINAGAR, JUNE 19:Minister for Tourism Ghulam Ahmad Mir has said that government would initiate all possibilities to promote and showcase virgin tourism potential of Bandipora. He said that steps would be also taken to create high-end tourist related infrastructure at famous vantage park Groora on the top of Asia’s’ biggest Wullar lake. Venting joy while observing the magnificent and mesmerizing beauty of Wullar Lake and majestic scenic mountains surrounded Bandipora with glimpse of Harmuk snowy scenes from Groora Vantage Park during his tour of Bandipora, the Tourism Minister said that the Bandipora is all praise worthy by its natures ‘beauty’. “It only needs publicizing in and outside the Country, besides participation of private stakeholders for creating tourist infrastructure,” he said. He added that though some infrastructure have been created in the area by Wullar-Mansbal Development Authority (WMDA) but yet there is need to create more such facilities at several spots of the area. Tourism Minister said that government contemplates to create requisite tourist infrastructure facilities at the hill lock of Wullar view. He said in this regard 44 kanals of State land have been transferred to WMDA. He said development of Vantage Park Groora have been completed at an expenditure of Rs 2 crore. “Bird watchers’ huts are also being constructed alongside of Wullar view for adventure lovers.” He said that new potential spots would be identified for bringing them on tourism map to attract the tourists towards their visit. The Tourism Minister said that tourist related infrastructure facilities at Ahtwatoo resort is near completion at a cost of Rs 3.85 crore, where accommodation, tourist cafeteria, park and parking lot budgeted is constructed. “Upgradation of road from Bandipora to Ahtwatoo has been also completed.” He said face-lifting of historical ‘Zaina lank’ in between Wullar Lake have already made while as necessary infrastructure at cost of Rs. 1 crore created at take up point Lankrashipora. Tourism Minister said that efforts are on to showcase the tourism potential of the area, adding that several Film Directors desired to shoot their films at Bandipora and Gurez scenic spots and approached to the Government for accommodation facilities.
