Grace Njoki Wanene is the winner of Laikipia Miss Tourism beauty contest after being fourteen other queens to clinch the victory. Wanene is a poet who has a passion for nature and will carry the county’s flag high during the oncoming Miss tourism Kenya later in the year. She was crowned the winner after the finals of the contest held at Nanyuki Sports Club over the weekend after a series of events to search for the Laikipia’s finest. Speaking during the event Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu said that the queen will be tasked with promoting the county’s cultural diversity, Wildlife and investment opportunities. The event sponsored by Vera Beauty college, Laikipia Wildlife Forum, the British Army among others brought the models from different cultural background with the aim of uniting the different communities. Laikipia County MP Jane Apollos urged all the finalists to brand the county in a positive way so that it can get a world wide recognition. She also called on all the ranchers in the region to set aside days when locals can enjoy wildlife at a subsidized rate so that they can enjoy their county resources. Tourism Minister Jane Putunoi whose docket was responsible for organizing the event thanked all stakeholders and sponsors for making the event one of its kind.
