Gradually a major shift is happening in Nigeria....No it is not PDP or APC. It is something we considered impossible before. Those of us unfortunate and hated enough by god to give us a skeptical mind, a questioning mind but sadly dropped mistakenly in land peopled by a massive horde of ignorant folks called Nigeria....But change is near. Everyday I am bombarded by messages from young boys and girls tired of leaving a lie...wanting to come out...To proclaim their freedom from the oppressive nature of religion. Our blogs are also getting lots of interest. Many Nigerian Atheist/agnostic/humanist/freethinkers blog/groups are witnessing membership growth...increasingly people who have struggled with their identity, afraid of being alone and ostracized are coming online and seeing many people that think alike....They suddenly realise that the shackles of religion is gradually but surely being broken by our concerted efforts to educate.....What Richard Dawkins and Harris et al did in the west we will replicate in Africa.....we will make being Atheist, agnostic or a freethinker cool in 9ja. We will use our superior logic and the power that is science to counter superstition and hate. Over time we will win. It may not be in my lifetime but the forces of enlightenment will always win over retrogression. I am ofcourse very proud of my friends and brothers/sisters who are helping in moving this train. Dr Leo Igwe a lecturer at Ibadan carried the load alone for soo long, being a lone voice of reason. Prof. Soyinka though not technically atheist helped give us courage to be bold in our beliefs... The age of hiding and not boldly proclaiming our ideas is over..... Special mention must be made of friends like Mike Kizzy scoffield, Imoh David, Akorita isaiah, Lola Effuntade, Nzeribe Enzo Uzordinma, Henry Onwordi, Carlos Chinwendu, Kunle ogunyemi, the lovely Pearl Osibu (to think you are hooked....sad), and the new kid in da hood Bala Mubarack who risked it all to be free.....You all rock! To others hiding because of societal stigma and those on the fence....you have a better brain than the other guy intimidating you by his story of a sky daddy or fairy, so why sit in the closet....Your views are not evil...it is the zealots that made it so. Come out! I am agnostic and proud!! And to the clowns who will want to pray for me.....Keep talking to yourselves dumbarse! Ciao
