Graduate Opportunities the University of Tennessee Opportunities for Graduate Studies in Human Geography the University of Tennessee The Department of Geography at the University of Tennessee is currently taking applications for PhD and MS degree students with an interest in human geography. Over the course of the last five years the department has seen a shift in its focus and has hired six new faculty who have broadly defined interests in human geography. In particular the department is keen to attract students who fit within the human geography research cluster. These include examinations of Globalization, Urban and Population Geography, critical approaches to the study of Race, Identity and Social Justice as well as Transportation Geography. Students who attend the university work alongside award-wining and renowned scholar-teachers who emphasize field, work, community engagement, social justice and critical approaches to the study of geography. Our faculty, students, and staff hail from a diversity of backgrounds, cultures and world regions, and we welcome prospective students from all walks of life and disciplines.
