Graduate engineers working for oil giant BP have attended two of the region’s major players in the oil and gas industry to learn more about the work they do. The visit gave them an insight into the work GE are carrying out in preparation of the In-Line Inspection (ILI) of BP’s North Sea CATS pipeline. The day began at the Cramlington site and combined classroom presentations with hands-on engineering experience. The graduates met apprentices and witnessed equipment in action. They then moved on to the Newcastle site where engineering manager Peter Robson gave a presentation. This was followed by a tour of the subsea flexible pipe manufacturing facility. bit.ly/OuMByK
