Graduation isnt the only thing our China Care Clubs Network - TopicsExpress

Graduation isnt the only thing our China Care Clubs Network students are getting excited about - many of them are also joining us for our summer volunteer trips in June and July! One of our graduating seniors shared her thoughts on last years trip with us (and with the colleges she applied to this year). We were so touched by Lauras essay that we wanted to share with our entire community! I went on this trip thinking that I was going to be helping the children, but it turns out that they were helping me to realize that being Chinese is an integral and undeniable part of who I am... I spent much of my time with LongWei. Every morning I would walk down the hallway to his room, and he would be waiting by the gate. The moment he saw me he would start jumping up and down screaming “Jiejie! Jiejie!” and run down the hall to meet me. He led me around the China Care Home and always stopped to look back to see if I was following him. One day LongWei came in wearing a small version of the volunteer shirts that we were required to wear. He ran over to me saying, “Jiejie, womenyiyang” (“sister, we’re the same”).” - Laura C, Newton South High School Read Lauras full story in our journal: bit.ly/laurareflectionhts
