Graham Hancock discusses the epic floods told in stories all over the world since the Epic of Gilgamesh. Recently new evidence has come to light that puts “an episode of global cataclysm” at around 13,000yrs ago. If we consider the changes the Earth went through between 20,000 and 10,000 yrs ago (meltdown of the last ice age), this evidence is incredibly enlightening and amazing! Imagine if you will, MOUNTAINS of ice covering the upper half of North America, as well as Europe, 2 MILES thick…that’s a lot of ice. Naturally, sea levels are “about 400ft lower” than they are today. So during this 10,000 yr ice melt, there are reported to be many significant incidences of melting ice-very SUDDEN melting. One of these episodes began 12,980yrs ago. The signature in the Greenland ice cores shows a layer of platinum, which signifies comet impact. This evidence is found in other parts of the world for this particular time frame. The geological record indicates the Earth fell back into a deep freeze for another 1,000yrs after this melting was initiated-why? The answer: fragments from a comet so large it hit many places around the world, most dramatically the North American continent, throwing gross amounts of dust into the upper atmosphere, enough to block the sun’s rays and reflect the sunlight back into space resulting in a very dramatic cooling effect that lasted 1,000yrs, aka “The Younger Dry Earth” via geologists. There was an apparent absence if impact craters that could support this theory, until a researcher named Randal Carlson suggested the reason we don’t see the impact craters is b/c the largest pieces of the comet hit the North American Ice cap, thus resulting in instantaneous melting, creating enormous floods, including tsunamis :-D A tsunami that, lets say, sunk Atlantis? When Hancock wrote Fingerprints of the Gods, it was unknown at that time what actually caused that significant melting 13,000yrs ago. He calls this “the smoking gun” b/c it happened during a time where we see huge numbers of species just disappearing and going extinct. --Info from interview with Graham Hancock on Coast to Coast AM radio show 11/19/13
