Grain shipments are on the top of every charterers mind as is - TopicsExpress

Grain shipments are on the top of every charterers mind as is usual for the summer time in the Azov. Similar to last week, charterers are again busy contradicting each others rates for grain routes. What is interesting is that once again a more optimistic source is giving smaller rates than a usually more reserved charterer. According to one source, a 5,000mt of wheat from the Azov towards TBS is now going for around US$ 26/mt and to Marmara for US$ 28.75/mt. Another source is telling BMTI that he has a feeling that the rates for the Azov market have stabilized, which is true as the slight fluctuations in the rates have become more predictable. Freight rates for 3,000mt of wheat from the Azov/Yeisk region are being quoted towards TBS around the US$ 25-28/mt level, to Marmara around US$ 28-30/mt, towards the Egypt Med for US$ 45-46/mt and towards the Italian Adriatic for US$ 45-47/mt. Barley cargoes are also relevant at the moment and 3,000mt shipments for the same destinations are usually receiving the higher end of the above mentioned grain freight rate range. Barley shipments of 3,000mt towards Israel are going for around US$ 45/mt. With Ramadan now at an end, freight volume is likely to pick up stimulating trade even further, most likely freight rates increasing. Source BMTI GmbH - Brokers Markt & Trend Information
