Grammar Got Run Over Dept.: A friend whos working on her album art approached me with the question of whether to capitalize the first letter of the word over in a song title. My first impulse was to capitalize it, but I decided to Google the question. It turns out to be as hotly debated as Obamacare. The University of Chicago, which is the Old Testament of style guides, says all prepositions should be lower-cased. But the AP Stylebook says prepositions of four letters or more should be capitalized. Which explains my first impulse: Once a newspaperman, always a newspaperman. It also explains why Ive locked horns with some editors over when to use commas before the word and. Commas! Now, theres a whole nother canoworms...
