Grand Budapest? Grand success. Had the strange but always welcomed experience of pulling up nose to nose with the REAL Cory OHarrow of the 9 Fine Irishmen for the film. I had the misfortune of allowing myself to step in to the end of NOAH on the way out. This made me deeply ashamed. Ashamed that the religion I was born in to, which, just like ISLAM, the antithesis of civilization, promotes such a ludicrous, laughable and shameful false history. We have all information to repudiate this myth, yet still, we cling to it out of necessity. The necessity of not looking stupid. The necessity of looking good to the neighbors. The same social factors that allowed the Nazis to control and brainwash the most technically advanced civilization the world had ever seen. The fact that people I know who are more educated than I am allow themselves to cling to these myths makes me sick to my stomach. It makes it hard to believe that we have a hope to cling to. But then, I have to remind myself of Carl Sagan. A Jew by birth. The fact that he ever existed in spite of his religion. His culture. His time. Gives me hope. May the the grace of God free us from his many and despicable religions and the blatant harm and degradation that they evoke on all humanity. May freedom of mind and information ring until all mankind is free of the yoke and tyranny of religion.
