Grandfather recalls teen killed in tragic accident By Buster Thompson HOMOSASSA — Clayton Storey was a 15-year-old teenager who loved to be outside and travel around with whatever set of wheels he could find — but mostly on his bicycle. “He went everywhere … had one more year of getting his (driver’s) license, but the bicycle did it until then,” Sidney Storey said about his grandson. “He was all down in (Chassahowitzka); he’d be up by Cardinal Lane, going to the store.” It was Clayton’s morning routine to cycle to a local store near his home in Homosassa, buy some gummy worms and Mountain Dew, and make his way back home to his family and his grandfather, who had raised Clayton since his birth with the help his now-late wife. “I was his father, grandpa; little bit of both; mom, if you want to call it that,” Sidney Storey said. Tragedy struck the Storey family Tuesday morning after Clayton and his bicycle collided with a passing car while he cycled from a shoulder lane into the southbound traffic lanes of U.S. 19 near West Cypress Boulevard. He was later pronounced dead at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, according to Florida Highway Patrol. chronicleonline/content/grandfather-recalls-teen-killed-tragic-accident?pc=1 #citruscountychronicle #trafficfatality #claytonstorey
