Grandkids are arriving all during this month. They are still - TopicsExpress

Grandkids are arriving all during this month. They are still little guys and gals. As has become a tradition... I buy them new toothbrushes for their visit to delight them and to assure my kids that I will not rot their babies teeth with doses of candy and ice cream..LOL. Oh...and because boo boos are part and parcel of the little kid life...band aids...not the flesh ones...oh no! For the girls...Hello, Kitty and Dora The Explorer...and the boys...Transformers and Thomas the Train. I started to think about whether we kept band aids in our medicine cabinet when I was a kid. You see, my knees and elbows were perpetually bloodied and scabbed. Its a wonder I had any skin on them when back to school came around. I roller skated --no helmet---no pads. Played tag and baseball and ran willy nilly...fell...and bashed into other kids. I jumped off of swings! Cracked my noggin...and my butt...so many times! And bled. A lot. Yet I dont remember band aids on any scrape or cut. But I do remember...MERCUROCHROME and TINCTURE OF IODINE. And opening the outdoor spigot and letting the ice cold water run over the wound until the water ran clear...and heading back to the playground for more mayhem. Understand...this wasnt because I was tough...it was because if my mother whipped out the Mercurochrome or iodine...there was going to be pain...lots of it...and some big time bawling. And not one band aid.
