Grants available for those affected by flooding People in North Devon who were affected by flooding over the winter are being told to find out whether they could benefit from a new grant. North Devon Council is taking enquiries and applications for the governments Repair and Renew Grant. This offers grants of up to £5,000 for property owners who were affected by flooding after 1 December 2013. Executive Member for Community, Cllr Yvette Gubb, says: We know some households and businesses were impacted by the bad winter weather and hope that they will come forward to see if they can benefit from this fund. If successful, the grant will help them to increase their propertys resistance to flooding in the future. Executive Member for Environment, Cllr Rodney Cann, says: The storms that we had across North Devon this winter caught many people out, with some unfortunately having to clean up after the storms. However, although the weather can be unpredictable, there are protective measures that people can put in place, and these grants could help them achieve that. To qualify for the grant, it must be the property owner who applies. This can be a business or residential premises, including community buildings.
