Graphic photos... Kelly went to the shelter today to pick up a few animals. While there a woman brought in 4, 3 week old puppies. Did we have room, no. However, realistically, puppies this young, who still need bottle fed, will not make it in a shelter setting. And they were in HORRIBLE shape. The woman was nonchalant about how awful they looked and said that the mom had similar spots all over face as well. The vet said it was a bacterial infection, but it had to have been going on for most of their short lives. It is contagious, so they are getting tons of love, but carefully! They have crusty, puss filled spots all over them. The chunk that I am holding in my hand, is a piece of one of their ears that fell off while bathing them. The screams were horrific. I cannot describe the level of indecency that it takes to let animals go this long without seeing a vet. The mom is supposedly only 8 months old and I will be speaking with the county about what can be done about the other dogs in this persons care and this woman. I am begging everyone, if you cannot afford treatment for your pets, at least ask for help! There are MANY low cost vets and many people who care enough to help. I dont know if this is a result of not having resources or not caring. Either way, it is unacceptable.
