Graphic pictures, but I have no shame in admitting these two were some of the hardest wildlife rescues emotionally, not that I am good at ending any animals life, but these two animals had a lot in common, and not in a good way. Both were RTC, no doubt from drivers going to fast, both were then left injured, alive and unattended for, 16hrs in the baderss case, wild boar nearly 36hrs and flies were even starting to set in, before they got the help they needed to end the pain; until then both were failed by humans. PLEASE, PLEASE, if you see an animal lying in the road, undergrowth, in fact anywhere and when safe to do so, check they are not still alive. It isnt much to ask, is it!! Both these animals sadly were humanely put out of their pain, the wild boar by a professional dispatcher, as not easy transporting a 120kg boar with broken back, so had to be shot on site, something I never get used to seeing, and the badger by the kind people at Vale Wildlife Hospital & Rehabilitation Centre (Vale Wildlife Rescue) today. It will take 20 seconds of your day to check if an animal is alive, surely thats not to much of your important daily business to give to our fellow residents on this planet, is it?
