Graphics – Rays & Planes, by Duane Carpenter (remembering our work yesterday – colors, rays, planes). The Menorah: 1st Night. The Zodiac by St. Hildegard. Wednesday – December 17, 2014 - 1st day of Hanukkah – we light the 1st candle of the menorah, as we also light the 3 candles in the Advent wreath (2 lavender, 1 rose for hope). Today is also the Feast Day of St. Hildegard of Bingen, visionary, mystic, botanist, musician, etc. Quote: Hildegard wrote, “In the year 1141...a fiery light, flashing intensely, came from the open vault of heaven and poured through my whole brain. Like a flame that is hot without burning, it kindled my heart, just as the sun warms anything on which its rays fall. And suddenly I could understand the Psalter, the Gospels and the other Catholic volumes both of the Old and New Testament.” (Note from Risa – the above experience of fiery light flashing into the mind is a Uranus/Sun experience – the astrology of fiery flashing light into the mind – creating illumination & enlightenment. Uranus is the “mind of God.” A fire (Agni). Our Preparations For Days Ahead We are now in the first days of Hanukkah – the miracle of lights in the Jewish calendar. Hanukkah lasts for 8 days – till Christmas Eve (Dec. 24th). We join with our Jewish brothers & sisters, lighting the first candle for the first day. We are… 1. Four days from the Capricorn New Moon, Winter Solstice, Sun entering Capricorn. 2. And eight days from Christmas morning, at midnight, when the Sun begins its yearly journey northward – which, in ancient times, was signified as the birth of the “holy child.” We are in our 3rd week of Advent, the week of rosy light, the color of hope that something of great significance is coming soon. ***St. Hildegard of Bengin - Feast Day Visionary, writer, teacher, composer, botanist, artist, abbess. St HILDEGARD of Bingen 1098 b. - 17 September 1179 d. (age 81) Hildegard was an extraordinary 12th century Benedictine abbess, mystic, visionary, prophet and polymath known for her work as a writer, philosopher, composer, poet, playwright, linguist, scientist, physician and more. One of the most remarkable women of the Middle Ages. Writings: a prolific writer of many books on a variety of subjects including theology, poetry, music, medicine, nature and science. Her best known work is Scivias (Know the Ways of God) based on her visions which took her 10 years to write. Her writings earned her the nickname Sybil of the Rhine Teaching: Unusual for a woman (then, 10th/11th century) she was an active preacher and embarked on various preaching tours of the country. Reform of the clergy was one of her main aims. An essay by Sabina Flanagan describes her works here Music: Music is an important part of convent life and she was an accomplished musician. She composed 77 chants (She combined all her music in a cycle calls Symphony of the Harmony of Heaven) and the first musical play in history. Here is an interesting explanation of the importance of her music… hildegard.org/music/music.html *** Symbols - Triangle & Square The Triangle represents Ashram, the disciple & the Hierarchy. The Square represents humanity – The square is the “city which stands 4-square, the City of Man.” The Disciples radiates into the square from the Triangle of Light. Standing with the Forces of Light. *** Radiating our Gifts to Humanity Contact with the Soul, in the Ashram w/ the CHrist & Hierarchy. Alignment Exercise Meditation – Integration of 7 centers, integration into Ashram Energy is all there is. The Soul is the Energy of Light The Soul’s Light enlightens our Way. We begin to have intention & purpose. A daily life rhythm begins. Then a point comes forth – another source of energy, inspiration & light is available for Service – the Energy of the Forces of Light. We stand with the Forces of Light. They emanate from the Spiritual Triad. Let us step from the periphery to the center of the Ashram. Stand under the Light of the Soul. And learn the esoteric significance of the triangle & the square. Now we understand something larger. It’s the Ashram, the Soul & the Disciple = the Triangle. The Square is humanity, the 4th kingdom in nature. We radiate stability into humanity, into all of nature. Calling forth Divine Balance. We call for the Angels to help us. Our gift to humanity for the holydays.
