Grasses grow thickly close together and seem only but to enjoy - TopicsExpress

Grasses grow thickly close together and seem only but to enjoy their togetherness, none possessing resentment against another. They seem to be aware of the importance and comfort of community. But men come together only but to resent & exploit one another. The art of peace which the grasses masterfully employ has eluded man. As I travel on the highway & behold their greenish beauty littered on both sides of the road, made that obvious by their community, I sort of feel like they are mocking all travelers for their inability to stick lovingly to one another without contention. They are more fragile than is man, yet tougher than he is. The sun shines on them & they take it all in; darkness comes & they are not perturbed; men complain and hiss at rainfall for disrupting their wearisome activities, but the rain is all they want, loving it ever so fancifully. And when the dry season comes, they tough it through, enduring it & hoping for when the clouds would be generous to them again. And rain received, their beauty they give. Man needs take a look at the grasses and learn a great lesson about community. Well never be wise as we should be if we regard nature only in terms of physical nourishment, and not also as a great teacher of life. We will remain confused, conflicted, pitiful, helpless, foolish, ignorant - merely existing. If pain, as CS Lewis asserted, is Gods megaphone to rouse a deaf world, then nature is His still, small voice to the attentive. If it were not selfish and an act of cowardice, I myself would rather live among the woods, alone, a hermit, than put up with the chaos of human togetherness, so that if I cannot enjoy unity among men, I should at least have the chance to relish in the peacefulness of the woods and grasses. While having respect for privacy of the neighbour, lets learn to enjoy one another; the keyword being learn, as some folks are quite hard to enjoy - most of us being among the some. -Aondozungwe KK, the one whom Christ loves
