Gratfest day 33. Today I am grateful for what I felt was a good workout at the gym. Trainer Marsella told me that the iron Im pumping is comparable to what my 29 year-old nephew Steve Eckert is doing. I was glad to have lunch with my mother and sister at Carlos OBriens. It means Ive found a safe Mexican restaurant where the food wont hurt me and where the shrimp macho is really delicious. I am grateful that I was able to make progress on the playtesting of the Adventurers Compendium and find 2 really serious errors that needed correction. And Im grateful that I was able to watch Blade Runner with my son James. He had never seen the movie before. Do you know that movie is set in 2019, a world with living sentient cyborgs (replicants) and star travel to off-world colonies, but no cell phones, or digital cameras. It reminded me that the future never turns out to be what anyone thinks it will be. I also got to revel in the over-the-top cult classic symbolism of Blade Runner. Would you believe this is the first time I realized that Blade Runner is a high-tech retelling of the Frankenstein story (think about it--man creates artificial life which comes back to kill its creator--thats Frankenstein and to some degree Prometheus.
