Gratitude, Day 6 Some days, I am tempted to complain about - TopicsExpress

Gratitude, Day 6 Some days, I am tempted to complain about anything and everything . . . even the task of washing hair. Today, I am reminded of three reasons that buttress my gratitude for the incredible blessing of caring for my daughters hair on a regular basis: 1. Time. The Word urges believers to redeem time for the days are evil, according to Ephesians 5:16. It always surprises me how long it takes to shampoo, rinse, condition, moisturize, brush, braid or straighten the hair of each one of my girls -- between 7 to 11 hours a head. Yet I wouldnt trade that time with anything in the world because it is packed with encouraging and listening to my girls. Time spent with them doing anything shouts to their hearts, Daddy loves you. Thank You, God, for such precious hours with my girls! 2. Toil. The more I do my girls hair, the more I am reminded that hard work teaches us to value what we are, what we have, and what we achieve. Anyone who has ever taken care of extremely curly hair (and long, at that) will readily tell you that it is hard work to maintain. For me, I must say that I grow more and more grateful each time I finish a particular hairdo. I dont take it for granted knowing that it is modeling to my girls the value of hard work. 3. Treasure. My girls love their hair. An unfortunate event led one of them to lose some pretty long locks three years ago and it took a lot of work and time on my part to encourage hair growth and get health back into that head. However, as often as I can, I take the opportunity to instill in my girls the wisdom that their hair is not and should never be their treasure. It is a blessing to be able to teach them that their hearts need even more strenuous or serious care than their hair. Thank You, Lord, for the gift of long curly hair! Thank You, Lord, for teaching me alongside my girls!
