Gratitude – Day 34 I have been working as official photographer for our annual hot air balloon festival, about eleven hours thus far yesterday. After having our first two flights cancelled we got green flagged at 5:45 PM and cleared for flight. The wind died down rather suddenly after being fussy for a couple of weeks. I was photographing the launches, not even thinking about getting flight space, given we had a big backlog of paying flyers from the cancelled flights. While I was standing at the reservation desk photographing the happy soon-to-be aeronauts, at the last possible second the last passenger in line spooked about riding in the sky and bailed. I was told to run fast across the launch field and take her place. No one had to ask me twice. • I am grateful for the colorful magic of balloon flight at sunset. Happily, I had all my camera gear with me and was able to fully capture the flight. • I am grateful for those circumstances allowing me an unplanned journey to the clouds. I had made no mention to anyone whatever about wanting to get on the flight manifest for this flight manifest ascension. • I am grateful for the camaraderie of our ballooning community. There is a special joy coming from those positive upbeat people who love to take people cloud dancing.
