Gravity [2013] PG-13 Review by Ovie Man This is the first movie I saw at the new IMAX theater at Regal Hollywood 16. Note that I also watched it in their non 3D theater before writing this. There was little difference in my experience, visually. It also is the last movie I will see at the IMAX. The cost is not worth it, especially considering this is not a true 70 mm IMAX experience. It is, rather, a digital 3D-IMAX. While the screen appears bigger than I recall it to be in theater 2, the other modifications that are required to be considered a true IMAX theater are absent. You can google the differences between digital and real IMAX. A nice reference article is by Peter Sciretta named, How do I know if my IMAX theater is Real 70mm IMAX or Liemax (Digital) ?. This is an excellent movie. I was not overwhelmed by the acting by either star. My satisfaction I feel was from the weightlessness of space. Watching people under the influence of near zero gravity is somehow calming even in the midst of their plight, fear and the unexpected consequences of Newtons third law --for every action there is a reaction. Lovers of Sandra Bullock--she was excellent in The Blind Side--I am welcome to my opinion that she is just average in Gravity . Does that mean she will not get an award? No, but in my opinion her acting is just average here. Score: 8.0 / 10.0 Ovie Man
