Grayling : Northern Pines Assisted Living / Life Enrichment Director Job code # 5521746 Job Description Seeking a Life Enrichment Director Responsible for planning, implementation, scope and emphasis of life enrichment programs to encourage and stimulate residents physical, cognitive, social and spiritual needs. Responsible to producing and distributing the monthly community newsletter and activities calendar. May plan and assist in research projects. Responsible for volunteer program. Responsibilities include: Develop cognitive, physical, social and spiritual programming that promotes each residents quality of life. Develop, lead and facilitate recreational programs appropriate for small groups, large groups, and one-on-one. Develop, lead and facilitate inter generational activities as directed. coordinate life enrichment functions with department heads, staff, families, and volunteers. Create monthly life enrichment calendar; distribute to each resident; post to community bulletin board and upload to community website. Solicit, coordinate and create material for the monthly newsletter; distribute to each resident; post to community bulletin board and upload to community website. Plan, organize and implement resident outings and special events. Immediately communicate identified resident status changes to staff. Facilitate and conduct resident council meetings. Ensure bulletin boards are current and attractively decorated. Work with approved activities budget; maintain a running inventory of supplies and make approved purchases. Attend mandatory in-service meetings and continuing education opportunities as required. Adhere to MSDS procedures regarding cleaners or other hazardous materials. Comply with universal precautions and infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation practices and procedures. Properly report any hazardous conditions and equipment, incidents or accidents in a timely fashion. Understand, comply, with and promote Residents Rights, Safety, Supervision and Protection. Maintain confidentiality of resident health information as required by HIPPA. Display a caring, respectful and positive attitude when addressing residents, family members and co-workers. Identify and network within the community to recruit and retain volunteers; maintain a volunteer database. Participate in the interviewing and selection of Life Enrichment Manager and/or Coordinator if necessary. Conduct periodic performance evaluations; discipline and ensure necessary training of Life Enrichment Manager and/or Coordinator as necessary. Participate in resident care conferences as directed. Ensure a safe environment for residents, visitors and co-workers. Support, reinforce, communicate, and defend the mission, vision, values, philosophy and culture of the organization. Additional Requirements: High School diploma or GED required, Associates Degree preferred. Three years experience developing life enrichment programs and conducting activities for residents in a long term care of assisted living setting OR a combination of education and experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs or equivalent. Strong written and communication skills Activity Director Certified, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist of similar area preferred, but not required.
